Rocker cover gasket

Post by KEG » Wed Apr 19, 2023 7:39 pm

Hi
I have an ongoing problem with an oil leak. The aftermarket rocker cover gaskets seem to be a problem. I have had several fitted with sealant but I’m still getting an oil leak. It’s minor but annoying. I’ve been told by the garage that the aftermarket gaskets are probably not as good a quality as the original Ford ones, and possibly not exactly the same size which is causing the leak. This could just be by a millimetre or so.
Any advice?

Thanks

I don't know which rtv you use, but I've found that this work with both OEM or aftermarket gaskets
Sealpro ProSeal 80726 High Temperature RTV Silicone Instant Gasket, Red. (not cheap) but excellent
You can get it in black

I leave it for 24hrs and don't over tighten the rocker cover bolts

Just had the rocket cover gasket changed again with sealant but this morning it’s still leaking! Is the key to leave it for 24hrs? The gasket was fitted at the garage, road tested and it was fine. This morning after standing there are three small oil patches on the floor. Is this something that will settle down?

Morning, I'm new here and have a very similar issue with my Mazda 6 2.5 v6 1994.

Did you have any joy with this at all, where did you source your gasket kit, any recommendations?

Many thanks!
