Probably got some source of warm/hot water now going to
the IAC valve

Sounds like IAC valve where it has been stood up

Try KIT aka Duncan he should have some good spares for a 2.0l

Wot mojo98 says is true,you will find its the construction of the battery front edge that fouls the
bonnet

causing the lift on the bonnet
