Re: Won't start..

With that firing order you DO NOT have an early '94 Probe.
Therefore NOT a 071 or 072 distributor.

Re: Won't start..

The real problem , you need to beg, or borrow , a distributor that is known to work, then buy it if it works on your car !
Just because it is new, is no guarantee.
Absolutely essential to get the right distributor for your car, three types , only one works.

Re: Won't start..

Good start. Now, pull that rotor arm off, don't worry it will only go on one way when you put it back. Turn it over. look inside the centre hole, check that the three metal leaves that grip the post are there. Pull that black plastic cover off. Check that the Hall Effect sensor is clean and doesn't ...

Re: Won't start..

One other 'long shot' you could check. Remove the MAF unit and check that the big 'plunger' in the centre moves really smoothly from shut to open. MAF (mass air flow ) is the connecting bit between the air filter and the inlet air manifold to the engine. Make sure you know where all the pipes and el...

Re: Won't start..

Hmmm, truly, I would leave trying to 'bypass' the immobiliser until after you have got the engine running again. One 'problem' is quite enough for the moment. It does keep pointing to a distributor fault, though I am surprised that you get any kind of spark at the plugs. That is weird. You told us t...

Re: Won't start..

Good point about 'the shaking'.
That is a serious misfire somewhere.
Are you sure you don't have water getting in via a head gasket leak ?
Check the water level , take both 'rad caps' off and have a look inside the system.

Re: Won't start..

Stop, stop ,stop. You have fuel , air, ignition, now, all that is necessary is for it all to happen in the right order and time. So, it is check the distributor top plug numbers/leads go to the right plug positions on the engine. Take number one plug out, check that distributor rotor arm is in that ...

Re: Won't start..

Then do that spark plug check if it does not start.
You/we, need to know if that man was 'right' about the spark.
There should not have been one if that CPS plug was ok !!
