Did you follow the guide in the oracle, as that states you use a jumper wire and 12v LED, which you can then read the codes?

Hi Geoff, The struts are fixed on the side of the tailgate and in the side gutter of the tailgate opening, I hope that makes sense, I don't have access to my car, so I can't take any pictures, but maybe someone else can (hint hint). Hi Geoff, are you sure it's a 1986 model, is it a LHD Gen 1 Ford Probe?
Does the tailgate open at all? when was the last time you opened it?

I would look at trying to clean the areas where you think it might be coming from and then after a run or not see if it’s dripping anywhere. If it does it even without you using the car, it’s probably not the rocker cover gasket, but as you say something underneath or mane the oil filter isn’t tight...

Hi The oil patches are as you look at the car looking towards the windscreen they are to the left of the engine. There is also a slight leak directly underneath the engine so it seems. You may find that the rocker cover gaskets are leaking, where in relation to the engine are the 3 spots on the floor?
