What is the battery bar
From the Neg terminal of the battery, a wire run’s to a metal bar, that has a couple it M6 tapped holes in it.
‘Lug off’ a suitable size cable, connect it to this Earth bar, & run it to the engine block.
This may improve your starter motor operation

Take the starter motor off the car & ‘bench test’ it.

As removing a starter motor from a 16v is a ‘bit of a pain’.

See if things improve, by running an extra Earth cable, from the Earth bar, by the battery to a clean bolt on the engine :idea:

There’s two main earths , that go the ‘drive train’ On the off side, there’s a 6mm black cable, that runs from the car’s body to the engine mounting bolt. On the near side there’s a 10mm cable that runs from the Earth bar by the battery, to the engine/gear box bell housing. If you think you have a ‘...
