For most of us , the old maxim "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is not such a bad idea. However, it only applies if you really ,really, do all the maintenance as intended and then some ! For instance, Mazda cambelts will last 100,000 miles easily, but you only find that out by getting there slowly....

Worth saying as came close for me.Mine went on a long journey.had not lost oil pre journey checks.Only noticed as I pulled up and engine was nearly empty.RAC fitted wrong size switch and split oil filter housing which Kit kindly ran round and got it sent to my garage.That was a year ago I was lucky....

Based on experience not tech knowledge change of coolant or topping up first port of call for idle changes.Take both rad caps off put blowers on full top up coolant slowly from rear rad cap until coolant overflows front expansion chamber ie front rad cap.gently squeeze pipe from rear rad cap and run...

I am in similiar boat as mine in for rear and front gaskets again.But at least mine lasted 3 years.I think my last garage only put sealant on corners.may be an idea to aak garage to let it stand 24 hours.But he isnt sarting it to wednesday. Rear rocker cover gasket needs replacing possibly front and oil filler cap is leaking on belts.rubber gone hard so evidently misting oil. I know the name tappets but not sure where they are?Does the fuel get to them if sobworth putting a tank of v power by shell.It is supposed to clean up ceetain parts and it is generally agreed by some worth putting in occasionally even just a quarter of a tank. I thought mine was sounding a bit ticky too the other day but as have 3 issues with it at the moment I am probably being sensitive.plus dont often hear the engine over my music or get under the bonnet with it running.
