Re: Bolt tensile strength
I’m not sure that those numbers do represent the tensile strength on our cars. I’m familiar with the grading of bolts and the numbering but on these cars I’ve only ever seen the numbers corresponding to the thread size so M6 threads have 6 on the head, M8 has 8 and M10 has 10. If anyone has seen dif...

It worked before I took it apart!
I’ve just replaced both cam cover gaskets on my Mx-6 V6 as well as the fuel filter and I wasn’t surprised that it didn’t run right. I found a vacuum pipe left off and I reset the throttle position sensor but it’s still not right. It starts perfectly and revs freely sounding great at first but if I l...

Re: Cam cover gasket - Drain coolant?
Thanks guys. Luckily I have a cheap digital borescope so I could look round the back and see it. Once I got a small ratchet on to it it came out easy. Then I found some other things I hadn’t disconnected. I was surprised to see how rough the casting is inside the manifold, grinding that smooth shoul...

Cam cover gasket - Drain coolant?
I’m changing my rear cam cover gasket and the Haynes manual says to drain the coolant. Do I have to do this?
It’s not mentioned on other instructions I’ve read.
Thanks
Kevin

Re: Cam cover gaskets.
I need to do this job.
Does anyone have a list of the gaskets needed? Is it just the inlet manifold and cam covers?
Thanks
Kevin

Re: Blocked brake pipe
I think you guys might have been right about the ABS pump. I took both rear pipes completely out of the pump body. Fluid flows freely under gravity from one port, the other I get nothing even when pushing the pedal although the pedal is firm.

Re: Blocked brake pipe
I disconnected what I thought was the blocked pipe and I blew it through with compressed air. I connected it again at the front but still couldn't get any fluid through it. What I did notice was that I have a firm pedal even though that pipe isn't connected to the caliper. So it looks like I will ne...
