You've summed it up there Kit.
It's why Gates and Bezos are rich , they licensed their secret knowledge.

Re: no start but crank / no fuel pump. ECM failure or not?

Very well done for fixing the problem.
Question.
Was it the ECU or the CPS connection that cured the fault ?
I have a complete wiring loom for sale with all the sockets you would ever need. See under parts for sale.

Re: The infamous Connector

Though I loved the life , dear old Blue Funnel were mostly DC powered and I thought my only other job prospects would be as a curator in a DC museum. So, a big relief to get to Hinkley Point B. Which is how I got to 'play' on the reactor simulator at Berkeley , irradiating most of the West Country w...

Oh Bob , " Them were the good ol' days "!
I still have a Laurence Scott publication 119 written by Dr Schwarz in 1949 on Schrage motor drives.
Part of our HNC curriculum in 1964 when true variable speed was like the Holy Grail.

Re: Soaked head lining….help!

Another way, search for the drain pipes as they appear out under the wheel arch, you will have to remove wheel arch covers.
BLOW air back up the pipes to check they are clear,

Re: The infamous Connector

Hi Bob, and Happy New Year to all. Yes , those big old battery chargers we used to have back in the 60's , with the square fins and round discs in the middle. Copper oxide , used as semi-conducting diodes , we called them rectifiers. I even remember the editor of Practical Wireless writing , in 1965...

Re: The infamous Connector

The other 'thing' that can happen to fine wire in copper crimped terminals is that it turns to copper oxide.
And as we know , copper oxide is a semiconductor , only passing current one way .
Make sure the wire under the insulation is really bright and shiny , not a dusty ochre colour.

Re: Cambelt life

IF you replaced the cambelt with a MAZDA supplied DENSO belt THEN forget the 60k mile change, 120k should be an easy reach. The DENSO belts ARE different from the cheaper alternatives , in thickness and no doubt , quality. They are 3 times more expensive. The carbon fibre should be unaffected by age...

Re: Misty windows

IF it is warmer inside the car than outside then condensation will form on any cold surface. SO, you have to create a micro-climate of cold air to spread over your windscreen. Cold air-con if you have it , or 'cold' outside air is the best you can do. And , of course , the very act of breathing make...

Does the aerial go 'up and down ' when you switch 'on/off' ?
