Re: Anyone pulled this apart......

I bought a set of pin removal tools from ebay for a couple of quid.

Really useful for pulling individual wires from that sort of plug without destroying it completely.

You could possibly use them to remove all of the wires from the knackered connector, fix the melted wires and refit into a new plug.

I did say sort the cpu out ages ago nice to hear its running ;)
You did, but I didn't have a spare early one, only a late one. Plus to look at, there's nothing amiss. It's a dodgy connector that appears to be making only intermittent contact.

Re: 24v Strange behaviour...

OK, I have (hopefully) sorted my problem. It appears to have been a dodgy connection on the CPU. At least, since I unplugged it and plugged it all back in again, the car has started first turn of the key, and the fans aren't running, so I'm hopeful (he says tentatively.) Might be worth looking at it...

Re: Rear o2 sensor

Early and late are in different places. Later ones can be accessed easily from the wheel arch but early ones are right at the back.
I already have the necessary socket but can't get a ratchet on it. I'll try removing the cross member.

Rear o2 sensor

Anyone know the best way to remove the rear sensor from an early 24v.

Re: Smoking

Hi guys.

Not smoking any more (not as much anyway) but it failed MOT on emissions. Apparently it's running way, way too rich.
I thought this odd since it's struggling to start when cold, at least until I add MORE fuel!!

Re: 24v Strange behaviour...

Appears slightly similar to my ongoing issues in respect of the fans running. Have replaced pretty much everything except the ECU but still every now and again the fans come on with the ignition (before starting). My initial thought was coolant level as this can sometimes happen, but coolant is fine...

Re: Smoking

when cool my Idles at just over 1000rpm, then drops to 700rpm, sounds to me that you may need to restart your base idle (only set it when engine is up to temp) as you know :D I did the timing and the idle at the same time a day or two ago. Redid the timing once I got the air filter etc back on but ...

Re: Smoking

Cheers for the suggestions guys. FPR already replaced (along with solenoid too) as part of the non-starting diagnosis Don't have a spare cat, although it does look a little small for the job. Anyone got a spare? Do have a pipe, but surely it would smoke with that on too? Not checked compression sinc...

Hi Kev have you tried replacing the CPU on her :?:
No. I don't have a spare early one to put in. Only a late one. Not sure if there's a difference.
