Re: Won't start..

When checking round the Dissy have a look inside the Cap at the Centre Pin that supplies the Power to the Centre of the Rotor Arm. There are 2 Types, one has the spring on the rotor arm and the other has the Centre Pin on the Cap Spring loaded (Late Car with Temic). Seen a few where the Spring Loade...

Re: Heater temperature control lever

Hi John. There are no cable to snap mate. Slider is just a resistance card that electrically alters the position of a Motor which in turn moves a flap. If the Lever feels loose the you need to remove the control panel from the dash and take it apart. Think the resistance feel comes from the contacts...

Re: Power steering issues

Tensioner wants replacing with your spare and then the Belt wants checking before you fit it. Sure its only held with 2 bolts but can't remember if the Cam Belt cover has to come off or not to remove it. Don't think it does but i'm getting on and my memory is not what it was   Undo the 17m...

I always use 5w/30 Fully Synthetic Oil in my 24v`s, and I change every 3000 mile or yearly, :D
Brakes should be checked while doing a service, especially the rears, (Strip every year and grease up the Slider pin)

and agree check plugs before changing them :D
That's what i do with mine 8-)

Re: High idle

To bleed the System remove both Filler Caps (Engine Off) and top up at the Engine Filler not the Radiator. Fill until you see coolant coming out of the Radiator Filler and replace this Cap Then Heaters set to Hot start it up (with the Engine Cap still off) and let her warm up, topping up as you go. ...

Re: Dodgy oil pressure switch

My water and oil gauge on my late has only ever shown bottom or half.If anyone ever seen them do otherwise would be interested to know. Mine is a 'N' Reg and an early Car. My Oil Gauge sits between the R and the M on Tickover and just above the N when cruising on the Motorway. The needle goes up an...

Re: Dodgy oil pressure switch

Is yours a Late Car Bob ? You are totally correct with this as Late Cars don't have a true Gauge. Its basically on or off and it puts the Gauge about 1/2 Way up. When James Engine went on his 96 Timberline the Gauge didn't move away from midway even after it packed up. Only the early Cars have a tru...

Re: Nearly ready to start on Japha again

First thing i'd do is get the TPS to do what it's supposed to. With the Link in Place and the Ignition on (Engine off) the Fans should be off. If not make sure the Throttle Body is free and fully close. Then tweak the TPS position until the Fans go off. If they don't then it could be a faulty TPS. T...
