Re: emissions

My emissions issue was caused by a faulty connection on the ECU. Faulty connection was caused by corrosion on the contacts.

Re: bulb number

I ordered T3 Neo Wedge bulbs from eBay (LEDs) Not sure if Maplin will call them the same thing though.

Front stabiliser bushes

Anyone recommend where to buy them?

I tried eBay but can only find rears, and Rockauto want over £30 including p&p.

Re: Disaster - advice needed

My father-in-law has a wonderful little smoke machine that pumps smoke into things like cooling systems and exhausts etc in order to identify leaks.

If you can find / improvise one it might be worth a try while you've got it empty. Much easier to see smoke than water!!

Re: Stereo amplifier

It is a lot less hassle, and the standard amp is actually quite good. I removed it from Japha and ran new wires, but still have it in Chewie running off an adaptor. Both now have exactly the same aftermarket headunit and Chewie is sooooo much louder. Granted, it does start to distort after a while, ...

Re: Radiator Fans Staying On

I'm sure they stay on if the temp is too high.

If coolant is OK, was the temp sensor higher than normal?

If not, it could be a relay issue.
24v? If so, both relays at the front by the engine bay fuse box control the fans, so one could be sticking.

Re: Brake fluid change

DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 fluids are found in most brake and clutch systems. DOT 5 is a silicone oil based fluid and can only be used in new, dry systems. In short, you can put DOT 4 in place of DOT 3 but not the other way around. DOT 5 is not compatible with DOT 3 and 4 systems. *Apparently, according to m...

Re: Odd failures - fixed (partially)

Last bad Rev Counter i had i cured by changing the Electronics unit for it on the back of the Clock. Mine was intermittent and would show revs when it felt like it. I'd already replaced that part. I guess it could have been the fuse box again and I replaced a working set with a dodgy set, but who k...

Re: Odd failures - fixed (partially)

Fixed, but not completely.

I found a spare CPU but it didn't make any difference, and I had a spare fuse box as well, so I thought I'd throw it in and see what happened.

Hey presto, everything bar the rev counter now works again.

Anyone any idea what could be up with the rev counter?
