Re: Lazy rev counter
Further to my last post it would appear that the front struts are rather difficult to obtain mainly for the right hand side. Can anyone confirm any of the following…. 1) the rear struts are/are not side specific. 2) Are the Mazda MX6 struts identical to those found on the Probe? (Reason I ask is EBa...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Garage took a look, they’ve no idea on the Rev counter issue, shared your suggestions and they’re of the opinion to try a replacement ignition coil first as last as it’s around £18 so not a bank breaker as such. Suspension they suspect top mount at rear as springs and drop links are new and worn sho...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Thanks gents….I’m leaning toward top mount fail at the rear. Could be the issue up front too as only when the struts compress over say a speed hump do I get the clunk sound, maybe the bearings are worn. Rev counter I’ve still not done anything with, for the sakes of £18-£20 May just put an Ignition ...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Well this pot hole saga goes from bad to worse. Clunky front end aside and problem on rev counter, something in the rear (pot hole side and both wheels went through) went clunk tonight and now sounds like a bag of spanner’s inside and out over rough surfaces. 😩 Sounds high up in the strut (but I cou...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Any suggestions on a good quality one? The car came with a cheap one when I bought it and it split inside causing a breakdown. The plastics had gone all brittle
I got mine from RockAuto, it was a little of £100, came within about 3 days?

Re: Lazy rev counter
According to the wiring diagram the rec counter is connected to the ignition coil in the distributor. So I'd think that the problem is with the ignition coil especially as it happens more when warm. Hope this helps This forms part of the distributor I take it? Looks a straight forward fit. https://...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Thanks for the suggestions all….
The car runs fine as the counter falls out of sync, only noticeable thing is that the secondaries don’t open as the revs never get high enough to ‘activate’ them. Usually kicks in/opens at 4000RPM.
No misfires or anything like that, tick over is all good etc.

Re: Lazy rev counter
It’s back! Took the car out today and the issue returned….I think Lazy was the wrong word rather inaccurate or out of sync suit better…..when it’s cold it’s perfect but as the car gets to temperature it slowly ‘fades’. Always gives a reading but it’s not correct. So either a speed sensor issue, dizz...

Re: Lazy rev counter
Oh dear, not good! I’ve wiped out a wheel on the Mondeo previously and never got far with the council. It seems that our councils and governments are only interested in schemes that make money (such as ULEZ and Forced EV adoption in 2030) rather than anything that costs them money. And with the ever...
