Water ingress
Car is now sat without a cover at body shop with no interior. Went up today for a progress check and noticed some water ingress on the left side...had run down the left side of bulk head over the front wheel arch and pooled in the foot well. Does need a new screen as delaminated and cracked driver s...

Re: Oil pressure & tapping

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
Spoke to Mechanic today over the phone and discussed the problem and played him the audio clip. He said the culprit may be the oil pump.... His logic; the oil pressure gauge is showing slightly lower than expected, the weak pressure is causing the hydraulic tensioner to not do its job right and Poss...

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
Is this along the right lines for a hydraulic tensioner? EBay item no 153480862318 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153480862318 Seems the US is cheapest, despite postage and tax. There are plenty for a higher price in Australia and one or two even more expensive from our shores. I'll check my Haynes tom...

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
Ok I sort of get what you mean now. I'll most definitely share this suggestion along with all the others to the garage when it goes in.

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
The 'beat' of that engine note does not compute with anything that 'turns' in the engine. Not camshaft revs, not belt length, nothing. Therefore, perhaps it is related to the MAF unit ? If there is any 'sticky' point where that plug has to move through just maybe that would cause the beat at low re...

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
Maybe your tensioner has fully failed whereas I think mines about 80% there. Do some YouTube searches for 'failed timing belt tensioner', I couldn't believe my ears at how bad some other cars sounded..... I'd be thinking full engine fail any of them where mine  If like me its at the left of the...

Re: Oil pressure & tapping
Isn't it?!
No, its just idling normally until you see me open the door and give the throttle a prod.
