Re: Fuel pump

Pleased to hear you're making progress. Some cars seem to fight you back sometimes. The leak behind the dizzy might be the bottom pipe from the radiator. The rubber hose pushes over a metal pipe which runs up under and behind the dizzy. It has a push fit at the top with an O ring that fits into the ...

Re: Fuel pump

I'm with Malcolms thinking, I reckon if the CPS was bust there wouldn't be any spark.

If it's getting spark, and fuel, the other thing to check is timing. Both ignition, and cam.

When the engine is turning over is it making any sort of noise that it's trying to start, or just cranking?

Re: clutch worn

There's also settings you can check on the clutch pedal. The actuator bar that runs from the pedal to the master cylinder can be adjusted out. It's a bit of a pain to get at, but worth a look before forking out for a new clutch.

Re: Immobiliser chipped key

The Temic immobiliser lets the car start, then checks the chip in the key. If the key chip doesn't match, or hasn't got one, it cuts the engine. I think it's a fully intergrated system, so you'll need a chipped key, ignition barrel, immobiliser, and ECU from the same car. Don't know if Ford or one o...

Re: Checked ABS error codes now car wont start!

I'd try disconnecting the battery again for five minutes. I've had problems in the past with immobiliser playing up after having the battery off.

Other things to try, is clean the crank sensor connection.

Re: Our Clutch has gone bad !

I had similar problems a couple of years ago. Pedal just went to to the floor. At the time, a new clutch master cylinder was nearly two hundred quid. So got on the internet, and eventually found a repair kit from a Mazda specialist in the US. I think the kit was for an RX7. Rebuilding it was really ...

Re: Instrument cluster lights

They look like Speedhut dials.

I've never fitted any, but IIRC they have their own wiring, and are piggybacked onto the existing dashboard wiring. Probably a dodgy connection.

Re: Fuel pump

Had similar problems a few years ago.

My problem was the immobiliser wiring. I'd done the moby bypass. But the fuel pump wire about an inch back from the moby plug was breaking down. There was enough there for the fuel pump to work, but not enough to fuel the engine properly.

Re: Non starter

If you fit a jumper wire to the diagnostic port under the bonnet between FP and GND, then turn the ignition on, and press any moby buttons, you should hear the fuel pump running.

Re: bad idle and jerky at low speeds when warm

As Sunfly says, first thing to check with idling issues is coolant levels.

I'd then do the basics. Spark plug gaps, check ignition timing. Set the TPS.

As for spares, this place is the best for spares. There's always a few breaking Probes on here.
