Power Steering Bracket

A while ago I change the alternator belt and the power steering belt, only to find who ever worked on this car had broken the power steering bracket, Today while starting to change the cambelt and water pump, I managed to remove the broken bracket, found a couple of spares in the store, so will fit ...

Re: Distributor removal problem.

Sounds to me that your alternator could be at fault, did you happen to see what the battery was indicating when the eml was on, top scale or bottom scale or showing normal
I've heard of the eml been on and the engine just cuts out once the battery is not charging.

Re: Oil leaks

I'm with John, be careful when tightening up sump plugs, plus watch out for rust on the sump, don't rub it while sump is full, once I accidentally knock rust on a sump and oh dear I had a nice leak pouring from the sump. Jack your car up and check around the sump, plus have a look at the power steer...

Re: Airbag light

I’ve got an intermittent problem with the airbag light flashing, it’s not all the time but is starting to happen more often, it flashes 5 times then pauses then flashes 3 times. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers Check out the Oracle technical database are the 5 flashes long flashes followed b...

Re: Distributor removal problem.

That seems to be a bit over top top just to remove the dizzy, I never changed one on a 16v but only 24v's even then when it wouldn't pull out I've just gave it a gentle tap with my leather hammer. Sound like the rocker cover gasket needs changing it 2 plugs have oil in, remove the plugs as normal th...

Re: Engine light

As Kev says the easy way remove the radiator, but I'm not one for the easy way, when I've changed my alternator I've done it the other way, by removing the plastic under tray, then removing the 4 bolts that hold the a/c compressor then push it to one side, then remove the alternator. I don't like me...

Re: Rear Brakes

Hi all, I'm still struggling to get my 97 24v back on the road. Mot failure - 'foot brake effort low - rear'. I've replaced the calipers, discs and pads and it doesn't seem any better and the handbrake is not great now either. Is it down to adjustment at the calipers or what else might you suggest ...

Driving lamps

I said it before "I'm a fish out of water when I come to car electrics" 🤣 A couple of week ago a fellow golfer said the only one driving lamps was on when pulling in to the car park, I said oh I must have be driving with the full beam on, so later put the main beam on and sure enough on the driver s...
