Absolutely essential to get the right distributor for your car, three types , only one works.
Stupid question time - how can I find the model number I need?

Re: Won't start..

The real problem , you need to beg, or borrow , a distributor that is known to work, then buy it if it works on your car ! Just because it is new, is no guarantee. Absolutely essential to get the right distributor for your car, three types , only one works. Inspiring confidence jrh ;) speaking with...

Re: Immobilizer bypass images

Bypass completed. Went swimmingly well after I realised I'd ripped out the ECU rather than the immobiliser xD

Thanks for sending that across, huge help!

Re: Won't start..

Hi guys, quick heads up. Managed to bypass immobiliser and that went well. Sadly, ran out of time/day light still haven't managed to check the top dead centre or keep pulling apart the distributor. I'll do this as soon as I get chance. The car is at work so not easy to get to without a car to drive ...

I know it was on the old forum but cannot seem to find. If anyone has the images that they could send across asa...

Re: Won't start..

Hi guys, I've tried to follow the advice on finding top dead centre but do not have anything long enough to put into the cylinder to check the position. Also unsure as to where to turn the engine around manually with socket. I've ordered a spark plug removal tool that is long enough to put the plug ...

Re: Won't start..

Going to the next step, bypass immobilizer (needed to be done anyway)
Will order a distributor replacement also.

Does anyone know if the old forum has been recovered at all? I remember seeing a page about bypassing the immobilizer but it appears to be lost?

Re: Won't start..

When checking round the Dissy have a look inside the Cap at the Centre Pin that supplies the Power to the Centre of the Rotor Arm. There are 2 Types, one has the spring on the rotor arm and the other has the Centre Pin on the Cap Spring loaded (Late Car with Temic). Seen a few where the Spring Load...

Re: Won't start..

Given the trouble I had and the lousy reputation of the distributor on Probes, I'd be inclined to change the distributor for a working spare. I had fuel and a spark but the engine wouldn't run. RAC man thought immobiliser because of the spark but it was the dizzy right enough. Think back to before ...
