Thanks both of you.
It was ok until the garage fitted the thermostat and put rad caps on wrong way round.oh well will get there in the end.

If you go for bga I have part numbers for them and you can get off ebay but I would go for mojos recommendation over mine as he has more experience than me.

Silicon grease on the rubber seal Thanks I have wd40 silicon grease in a can I used to use to prevent a porch door sticking but I found it left a residue so I swapped to gt85. Have I got the right product and how do you apply. When I used the wd40 version it left a rubbery residue when it dried out...

Alternatively anyone within hour to hour and a half hours away who can look at it orvcan test rad caps that i can pop over to within couple of weeks.will bring poison of your choice and hopefully friendly gsd and donation to club funds maybe to help retrieve lost info.

Problem solving what next

Took car to garage to have thermostat and temp sensor and sender replaced but it lost a little water. Thought usual air lock.filled properly but noticed rad caps which were original wrong way round so checked and swapped over. Problem is I use car so little. So next i discover car still losing water...
