Re: Help Please, No Brakes.

Re: rear brake calipers.....MOT WOES

I was looking at Mazda 6 rear brakes earlier, but not sure if the mounting bracket would fit, or if you need different discs because they are larger? Would need to measure both to see? The actual operation of them looks the same? Any one with a Mazda 6 in the club :?: That could take a look & compa...

The action of the handbrake, keeps them adjusted So, this ...

Re: How do you test boot struts ???

Push down on bathroom scales , should be at least 20kg to be any good. Is that how you test them ? John, 👍 a good way of testing the struts, But I found the figure should be a lot higher The failed struts made 20kgs :? A sample pair of OME struts (that we’re good on the test bed), reached over 40kg...

Re: How do you test boot struts ???

Still not convinced, I bolted a wiper motor the the u/side off the tailgate https://i.postimg.cc/FfST8h9b/99-ADD4-F0-9-D6-A-4-B8-B-A4-E9-57-F9236-B8759.jpg The set of struts, left on still held the tailgate up, so I’ll conclude the the other sets will be OK. The Blue labelled aftermarket one, were b...

Re: How do you test boot struts ???

After pairing the struts up, each pair was tried on the the ‘test bed’, which was the “Probe trailer” ex VIN Ser.No. R009314. The struts on here have failed, since I took ownership of it more than a year, used only for storage, so little use on the struts. https://i.postimg.cc/PpWCY5tf/image.jpg Fou...

How do you test boot struts ???

Over the years I’ve amassed a big collection of boot struts :o https://i.postimg.cc/cgp3184X/07-DA071-F-5-F31-4306-9-CCD-71-FA96-AEE112.jpg The yellow labels are OME’s KB76 The green labels are OME’s KB79 The blue labels aftermarket You might note the OME’s have the hatch fitting on the silver push ...
