Re: What is this?

Yes, that was what I thought it was but...........
On closer inspection, it's NOT the closing piece that fits at the end of the trim ( as it runs down the side of the tailgate window ).
No, don't know.

Re: Under arch painting

You might try using some Dinitrol 77B on an area that has been well cleaned of loose surface paint/rust .
Just that, no overpainting.
Then compare that , with any other areas you have treated another way, in say one years time.

Re: Check engine light on solid

If it works when you reconnect the immobiliser then that IS the problem.
You can open that immobiliser, take the cover off the ignition circuit relay and jam those contacts closed using a matchstick.
That way, you will still have an active anti-theft device and cure the dissy failure via that route.

Re: Ford Probe battery/alternator problems

Is that ' new' battery or ' another battery' ?
And when you tested the alternator voltage , the battery was disconnected with engine running, yes ?

Re: An odd shape pipe or has it collapsed?

Exactly, when the engine gets hot the water expands beyond the 'cool' capacity of the system and it goes into the vented ( to atmosphere ) expansion bottle. Then, when the system cools down it gets sucked ( pushed really ) back into the system again. So yes, if that rubber pipe has lost it's ' memor...

Re: An odd shape pipe or has it collapsed?

A collapsed pipe like that is caused by a partial vacuum in the system.
Usually, the rad filler cap should have a 'vacuum release' valve in it, worth checking in this case because even a new pipe will show the same
symptoms if that VRV isn't working.

Re: Suspension mounts

It is almost certain you are referring to the bodywork ( or lack of it ) to which the mounts are attached.
A bodywork welding job .
