Would go by the the advice from Malc/John but have a look at the plugs
as a Cam cover gasket may be failing and oil getting to plugs

I would check the bypass as the starter motor
Is one of the 3 circuits that gets bypassed did

Has it still got the original immobilser
or has it been bypassed
if bypassed check the connections on the bypass,or
if you have after market alarm try taking it off

When you say bolt sheared off do you mean the bolts that hold the handbrake
cable on to the arm
if so just tack weld a m6 bolt on or cable tie on
cable on to the arm

Im sure you did its the bolt that goes to the power steering bracket thats usually missing
and the bolts is there
