Yes , garage will be changing engine …. If I can find a suitable one , do you know which years would be ok for mine without having to change other parts ?

This is message from garage … Thought I’d message just so you’ve got everything written down for reference. I was wrong with the overfuelling, the initial smell of fuel from the exhaust must of been because it had been run with a misfire, sorted that by cleaning the spark plugs and adjusting the ht ...

Update - over fuelling issue was incorrect , I am now on the lookout for a replacement 2.0 16V engine as mine has several issues and a rebuild would cost way to much . Car is 1997 model , would anyone have an engine and costs please ? Gutted tbh but it is what is it , thanks for all the suggestions ...

Taking car to another garage as getting no where at the moment , guy hasn’t looked at it in nearly 3 weeks .
She had a new distributor in October 2020 , will them to check it out .

Thanks for all help so far , just been to garage to see what story is with my car , diagnosis is it is over fuelling , problem is they don’t seem to know why , relatively young mechanic and owner so thinking I might have to get car into somewhere else .

Still spark at the 2 ports mentioned , no coolant loss , not burning oil … starts but is rough and misfires

Head Gasket checks been done at garage and all ok , 2 plugs and top of 2 pistons wet with fuel ..
