Re: Rear o2 sensor

I use a 22mm ring spanner, I think it’s 22mm. It is cut in half, disconnect the plug, working from the top, place ring spanner on O2 sensor, then I have a piece of pipe flattened at one end, place this end against the end of the spanner and tap with a hammer. 5 minute job.

Re: Immobiliser chipped key

Your only option would be the parts from another temic car. In the past it was possible to get a code from Ford, but they are not interested these days.

If you could get the code from Ford, then I have the procedure. I have done it once, but it is fiddly, it took me about 20 goes before it worked.

Re: VRIS issues

Between 0 rpm and 3250 rpm vris 1 and 2 are closed.

Between 3250 and 4250 rpm vris 1 is open, vris 2 is closed.

From 4250 and 6500 rpm both open, unless no wot.

Above 6500 both closed.

Re: VRIS issues

To answer your other question, vris is opened by the ecu based on parameter set within the ecu.

For example the vris switching at 4000 rpm only happens in a wide open throttle state, if this doesn’t work, it is usually a TPS fault.

Re: VRIS issues

To sort out VRIS a mityvac is a useful tool. I did write a guide to fault finding the vris years ago, I will see if I can find it.

In my experience most problems are vacuum related, heat makes the tubing brittle.

Re: Tappet Rattle - a dummy run.

You need to take the timing belt off to remove the camshafts to get to the hla’s. You also need to take the crank pulley off to get the belt covers off and to set the timing back up. Also you need the cam covers off to get to the cam wheels.

Re: Locks, ignition barrels and immobilisers....

Early cars have a fob, later cars have the temic system with a chip in the key.
