Re: 24V Ignition Timing

Whoops, sorry.

That's where I thought I was putting it

24V Ignition Timing

Hello everyone, I would like to check the ignition timing on my car. I've read the "Fine Tuning" article in the Oracle and that says it should be 10˚ before TDC. From memory of doing this (or rather, having it done for me) over 10 years ago (!) I think that the engine has to be running at 1500 rpm. ...

Re: 24V Hesitation

Thanks all, it did turn out to be the leads ... replaced them and all is well (almost). The front three connectors are about 8mm too long so don't go over the cover properly. I'll get that fixed next week.

Thanks both. I've not been able to look at it yet but I'll report back on progress.

Re: Remote locking - missing wire (!)

Thanks for the advice on this issue. All is now working as it should. I understand Jon's advice and I know that works because I leave the bonnet open when I have the charger connected. I decided though that I would rather leave the alarm working as I don't want any chance of insurance issues if the ...

24V Hesitation

Hello everyone, After a very long while when the car only ran for a very short distance (yards) each day, I have now properly got it back. Unfortunately It is hesitating at times. This afternoon as it was idling, I could feel a misfire until I increased the revs up to 1800 plus. Generally it seems t...

Re: Remote locking - missing wire (!)

Thanks to both the above replies.

In the short term, I will take Jon's advice but when I have a moment, I will fit a relay so it all works properly. Knowing insurance companies, disabling the alarm will void the insurance!

Thanks, Peter

Re: Remote locking - missing wire (!)

The good news is that we found the wire and the car locks and unlocks remotely :D The bad news is that when it is unlocked remotely, the (factory) car alarm goes off immediately and has to be silenced by turning the key in the door to the unlock position, which rather defeats the point of the remote...

Re: Remote locking - missing wire (!)

We've looked at the wiring diagrams for early and late cars and, so far as we can tell, the relevant wire is green/black on both. Our problem is that we can't find it around the driver's footwell of the '96 car, which is where it was on the earlier (95) car. Does anyone have an idea where it might b...

Re: Remote locking - missing wire (!)

Certainly the green/white isn't in the mix. It was earthed at the time so when we connected the activation wire, it blew a fuse!

The schematic seems to be for a different unit - this is a Cobra. It doesn't say where to connect it on a Probe
