I fixed the problem today. It was the MAF. I'd got a spare, unknown MAF from the boot of DUK when I bought it tucked away in my spares.

Question now is, is my faulty MAF fixable or is it to the bin?

Just an update, the problem wasn't fixed at that point. A 3rd MAF fitted but still kept dying when idle needed. Blackpool looming.
I disconnected the battery for a few hours, reconnected and problem seemed to be solved. Well, a 340 mile round trip to and from Blackpool and she didn't cut out once 8-)

Is this sorted? Was checking my PCV valve had suction & my V6 wouldn't idle with this out, try that and the pipe attached. I got new PCV valve from Mazda £32

Yes, another MAF and then disconnected battery for an hour, all sorted .
