so could well be a dead battery then,As said did this break it down in the dark,and did recovery try to start
with a jump pack :?: is there a date stamp on your battery as it will tell the date when made and runs out :?:

Broke down in the day, I donโ€™t think he tested the battery? We did just use a battery tester and it said mine was half charged to dead, just a cheap tester from Lidl.

Hiya, thanks for all the help, had to leave it for a few weeks but have got the diagnosis now. A bolt came loose on my timing belt and has caused the small metal dowl holding the from camshaft to shear. There's evidence that the camshaft has rotated about a 5th of the cog so potential for piston damage? Basically I'd need an entire front camshaft and surroundings. So a bit more major than just the cap and battery. Again thanks for all the help, it may even need a new engine so will have to have a think about what to do next

You will NOT get any piston damage as it's not an interference engine. It might pay if you are able to post a picture of the offending part?

Ah okay, yer wast sure if it was one or not ๐Ÿ˜… here's the pictures. I've also added one of the other half of the metal dowl that was sheared off/the offending part

Give Duncan aka Kit on here a PM im sure he will have a cam to help you out, the engine
should be fine as non interferernce

Okay great I'll message him thanks! does the shaft include the little sheared metal dowl part as not sure how that's fixed?

The locking dowel is part of the shaft,suspect it can be drilled out and
get a hardened steel dowel put in and make flush with the main locking bolt
or try here or ebay for a cam ;)
Dowels are on ebay ;)
