so could well be a dead battery then,As said did this break it down in the dark, and did recovery try to start
with a jump pack is there a date stamp on your battery as it will tell the date when made and runs out

Broke down in the day, I don’t think he tested the battery? We did just use a battery tester and it said mine was half charged to dead, just a cheap tester from Lidl.

Re: Engine won't start
Hiya, thanks for all the help, had to leave it for a few weeks but have got the diagnosis now. A bolt came loose on my timing belt and has caused the small metal dowl holding the from camshaft to shear. There's evidence that the camshaft has rotated about a 5th of the cog so potential for piston damage? Basically I'd need an entire front camshaft and surroundings. So a bit more major than just the cap and battery. Again thanks for all the help, it may even need a new engine so will have to have a think about what to do next

Re: Engine won't start
You will NOT get any piston damage as it's not an interference engine. It might pay if you are able to post a picture of the offending part?Probe97Fiesta01 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:40 pmHiya, thanks for all the help, had to leave it for a few weeks but have got the diagnosis now. Re: Engine won't start
The locking dowel is part of the shaft, suspect it can be drilled out and
get a hardened steel dowel put in and make flush with the main locking bolt
or try here or ebay for a cam
Dowels are on ebay
